The Darkness II

The Darkness II
This game is one of the best games I have ever played. It’s action! The main protagonist is nobody else but Jackie Estecado, a no lifer, nobody, no future type of guy. If you play this game, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I noticed that they took some ideas from the departed, or maybe the movie was just influential.
From the moment I played it, I didn’t knew it was from a comic book. Anyways, I love the game. You have a girlfriend there that you need to save. She got dead. Got her brains blown out in front if Jackie, as well as his whole family.
The graphics is quite awesome, and the textures are still comic-like.
You have a mansion. You are the boss. But the brotherhood wants the darkness, and will do anything to get it, and so on some part of the story, your mansion will be invaded, but eventually, you’ll take revenge.
The game is set somewhere between the 80’s I think. I just finished the game, and once you do, you can then choose whatever chapter you like, and you will like to finish the game so you can play on your favorite chapter of the game anytime you want. Favorite chapter? What the fuck is it? He-he. There’s a chapter there where you’ll need to escape a brothel called the Lucky Mannequin. It’s where the girls are. You’ll love it.
I’m trying to complete what the game calls essences. Essences are essential. Just kidding, yeah, it’s really essential, and it’s really awesome once you get hold of the powers of the darkness. The darkness looks like a snake with two heads attached to your body. Well, I think that’s just one part of it, because it’s really the darkness.

You can get essences from the kills you make. There are is also an essence that when you purchase increases your power to have more essence. The more violent the kill, the better.

The darkness is vulnerable to light, and loses its power when you are around one. This one is just a short wire of a generator. On proceeding chapters, they are longer.

Eat hearts to regain health!

I can't see!

You can pickup explosives or just shoot the hell out of them. They are useful in many situations like fighting off a boss, or destroying a group of enemies in a row.

Jackie doesn’t want any of the darkness, but it got into Jackie because on the first chapter, on some kind of hotel, your arch enemy Victor’s band of raiders comes in and destroys the place, and you have no choice except to embrace the darkness in order to live.

You wake up on some kind of asylum after some chapters ahead, and your head is shaved. The people there are also the people from reality except that they are doctors and staffs. Even Victor becomes a doctor trying to help you. The asylum is not real. It’s just an Illusion.

Jenny’s ghost shows up to you from time to time until you get to hell where you’ll try to save her.

On the last chapter, you will choose whether you’ll stay on the asylum, or jump on a building and commit suicide to go to hell, and free jenny’s spirit.

Another cool thing about this game is the Vendetta feature, where you can choose from 4 characters. I’m still on the Japanese guy’s story, and I get dead a lot on some chapter there. You can play whether offline or online. Playing with someone or a bunch of friends can make things a lot easier.
